Wet-Plate Collodion from the
Afghan War Zone
US military gunner Ed Drew has created a striking series of wet-plate collodion photographs of his comrades in the war zone of Afghanistan. Not since the American Civil War 150 years ago has the process been used in an area of conflict. Drew's photographs are as profound and interesting as Mathew Brady's (a key Civil War era photographer), achieving a ghostly effect through the process that is entirely fitting for his subject matter.
