Color Rush
American Photography from Stieglitz to Sherman

Alfred Stieglitz, Frank Eugene, 1907

Eliot Porter, Blue Throated Hummingbird, 1959

Joel Sternfeld, Wet 'n Wild Aquatic These Park, 1980

The Milwaukee Art Museum's recent show Color Rush tracks the history of color photography from the moment when it was first made available to the masses to the moment it became ubiquitous. The show was up from February to May, but it's resulting catalogue is well worth a look/purchase.

The show and catalogue brought together artists such as Ansel Adams, Harry Callahan, William Eggleston, Walker Evans, Saul Leiter, Helen Levitt, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Irving Penn, Eliot Porter, Cindy Sherman, Stephen Shore and Laurie Simmons, as well as the written contributions of Lisa Hostetler and Katherine A. Bussard.
