A Testament to
Kodachrome
Nathan Benn
In 1972 Nathan Benn was given the order from his then employer, National Geographic, to shoot Kodachrome, only Kodachrome. What Benn didn't know then and knows now is that Kodachrome's relative durability as a film would result in a pristine archive of his images ready for re-printing 41 years later.
In his recent publication, Kodachrome Memory: American Picture 1972-1990, the above examples and many more are brought together. Collectively they present Benn's incredible sense of color that he, up until the National Geographic assignment, hadn't ever considered having been a black and white photographer.
