A Tribute to Muhammad Ali

photography by Steve Schapiro

As we reflect on the loss of a great man, Printlab digs into its archives to reminisce on a very special photo series we printed for our friend, Steve Schapiro. His work captures intimate moments from the early days when Ali was still known as "Cassius Clay."

An interesting twist to this photo set is that Ali's wife, Lonnie, tracked Schapiro down not long ago to tell him that these photos were taken the very day she first met him....twenty years before she knew she would become his wife.
