Art at Star Lounge Coffee Bar invites artists to submit entries for inclusion in Interface, an upcoming juried group photography show.
Interface will explore the inherently networked aspect of photography. As a point of connection between photographer and subject, the camera can be manipulated to emphasize, efface, or alter the relationships involved in photographic practice. Star Lounge seeks artwork that engages the photographic mechanisms through which systems, organizations, bodies or subjects relate.
The theme of Interface is further reflected in the cooperative nature of Star Lounge Coffee Bar. As a communal hub in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood, where artists, writers, musicians, baristas and community members of all sorts gather and connect, Star Lounge itself operates as a dynamic point of interaction.
Submissions may be sent digitally to carrie@darkmattercoffee.com and are due by Sunday, Feb. 17. The show will include an opening reception on Friday, Mar. 8, and works will be displayed through April 2013.
